San Cristobal, Galapagos Islands.
Flat calm seas onboard the Vertigo with Peter Santini, Andy Locacsio and Tarin Keith. They fished near 0-30 bank and saw a tailing blue marlin that did not eat and a striped marlin that was raised but did not bite. Late afternoon a black estimated around 600 ate a white and red Iland express. The fish was caught and released by Lady angler Tarin Keith in approximately 45 minutes.
The striped marlin have not shown up in their legendary number which has lead the fleet to look around deep drops the blue marlin hangouts. The fishing this year is paying off with more blues and black raised on average than previous years.
March 11, 2013 A last minute charter by Micah Elder went onboard the Big Fish to a mound from Rosa Blanca know as La Entrada. Man riding Black marlin

BIG GAME FISHING Black Marlin

BIG GAME FISHING [INFOGRAPHIC]

A giant of the sea and a fighter on the line, the Black Marlin is considered by anglers as the pinnacle of deep sea fishing. Over the past decade, extreme fishing has increased in popularity, due partly to reality TV shows which focus on landing the monster catch.

Fortunately, the growing popularity of big game fishing has not had a severe impact on marlin stocks. Recreational anglers understand the importance of conservation, releasing nearly all of the marlin and sailfish they catch. Requiring a balanced combination of patience, strategy and power, it is simply the challenge of marlin fishing which extreme fishermen chase.

There are few places in the world better for marlin fishing than off the coast of Panama. Marlin tend to dine on reef dwelling fish, which makes the Great Barrier Reef a popular feeding ground. In fact, there are more Black Marlin caught on the
Hannibal Bank..
